Keyboard shortcuts
The whole point of a typing site is that you never have to reach for the mouse. This is every shortcut there is, read off the source rather than from memory.

The two that matter. Tab restarts. Ctrl+K opens the command palette, from which everything else is reachable by typing its name. If you learn nothing else on this page, those two cover most of it.
Running a test
| Keys | What it does |
|---|---|
| Any letter | Starts the test. There is no need to click into the text first — focus is held for you. |
| Tab | Restarts. Works mid-test and on the results screen, and restarts the mode you are actually in — Forge restarts as Forge, not as a Sprint test. |
| Enter | Restarts from the results screen. |
| Esc | Leaves typing mode and brings the interface back — the nav and controls that fade out while you type. |
| Backspace | Corrects a mistake. Whether errors can be corrected at all is a setting, and some practice configurations block it deliberately. |
The command palette
Every setting, theme and mode is reachable by name from one overlay, which is faster than any menu once you know roughly what you want.
| Keys | What it does |
|---|---|
| Ctrl+K or Cmd+K | Opens the command palette. |
| Ctrl+Shift+T | Opens the palette directly on the theme list — then type to filter all 80. |
| ↑ ↓ | Moves through results. |
| Enter | Runs the highlighted command. |
| Esc | Closes the palette. Also closes the settings panel and the first-run setup. |
Results screen
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Click the screenshot button | Copies an image of your result to the clipboard. |
| Shift+click the same button | Downloads it as a PNG file instead. |
| Tab or Enter | Straight into the next test. |
