TypeCrt Documentation

How everything works, stated precisely.

TypeCrt is a free online typing test and adaptive practice tool. These pages document exactly what it measures and how, so nothing here has to be taken on trust.

Learn to Type

The beginner path: start with a few keys, add the next when the last one sticks.

Metrics & Formulas

The exact equations for net WPM, raw WPM, accuracy and consistency — and how to verify them by hand.

All 80 Themes

Every built-in theme with its palette, the custom theme creator, and the minimal non-CRT mode.

KeyForge

Adaptive practice weighted toward your slowest keys, in blocks, with a progress readout that stays quiet when a change is only noise.

KeyForge Practice

The confidence formula, letter unlock order and how practice words are generated.

All 35 Settings

Every setting with its key, options and the technical effect of changing it.

Test Modes

Time, words, quote, zen and custom — what each measures, and how Forge practice differs from all of them.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Every shortcut, read off the source: Tab restarts, Ctrl+K opens everything else.

Leaderboard Verification

What is screened before a score is ranked, what is not, and why the thresholds come from published research.

Research & Evidence

Exact figures from the two largest published typing studies — and the common claims they do not support.

Data & Privacy

What is stored on your device, what leaves it, which third parties receive it, and how to delete everything.

Exercises

Structured drills from home row through to full sentences.

Verifying These Claims

Everything above is checkable without taking our word for it. The metrics page publishes the formulas so you can recompute any score by hand from the character breakdown shown on your results screen. The themes page lists all 80 themes individually with their palettes rather than asserting a number. "No ads" and "no account" are verifiable by loading the site — there is no ad script and no authentication wall.

Where a claim concerns typing in general rather than this product, the research page gives the source and the exact figure — including the claims we found no evidence for and therefore do not make.
