Correction, August 2026. The March 2026 version of these terms stated that TypeCrt does not collect, transmit or store data on external servers. That was inaccurate — the site loads Google Analytics and records anonymous usage events. Section 4 below now describes what actually happens, and the full detail is on the privacy page.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of TypeCrt (“the Software”), a typing-practice application published at typecrt.com. Using the Software means you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the Software.

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using TypeCrt you agree to be bound by these Terms. These Terms apply to every visitor, whether or not an account is created. If you are using TypeCrt on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

2. Licence and intellectual property

2.1 OWNERSHIP

TypeCrt — including its source code, design, themes, word lists, adaptive-practice algorithms, features and functionality — is owned by shadowline trx and protected by copyright, trademark, trade-secret and other intellectual-property laws.

2.2 WHAT YOU MAY DO

You may use TypeCrt freely for personal or internal practice and assessment: practising yourself, having students or colleagues practise, running typing tests, and sharing links to the site. No permission or payment is needed for any of that.

2.3 WHAT REQUIRES PERMISSION

All rights not expressly granted are reserved. Without prior written permission from shadowline trx you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, sublicense or lease any part of the Software; embed it inside another product; resell access to it; or reverse-engineer or attempt to extract its source code beyond what applicable law permits notwithstanding this clause.

Your typing results are yours. Nothing in this section claims ownership of the text you type or the scores you produce. Section 2 covers the Software, not your data.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

4. Your data

Your typing history, per-key statistics and all settings are stored in your browser's localStorage and are not required to leave your device. Separately, and independent of any account, the site records anonymous usage events and loads Google Analytics, which sets cookies. Signing in is optional and exists only to sync your history across devices.

The complete picture — every field transmitted, every third party involved, and how to delete everything — is on the privacy page. That page is part of these Terms by reference and is where the authoritative description lives; if the two ever disagree, the privacy page governs.

5. Availability

TypeCrt is provided free of charge with no uptime commitment. The Software, or any part of it, may be modified, suspended or discontinued at any time, with or without notice. Because your history and settings are stored locally in your browser, they remain on your device regardless; conversely, clearing your browser storage deletes them permanently and they cannot be recovered by us unless you signed in and synced them.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR COMPLETELY SECURE, NOR THAT ANY MEASUREMENT IT PRODUCES IS FIT FOR CERTIFICATION, EMPLOYMENT SCREENING OR ANY OTHER FORMAL PURPOSE.

On test results. TypeCrt measures typing speed and accuracy using the standard five-characters-per-word definition, documented in full on the metrics page. Results are a practice signal, not a certified assessment. If an employer or examination body requires a certified score, use their instrument, not this one.

7. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL SHADOWLINE TRX BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM (A) YOUR ACCESS TO, USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE; (B) ANY THIRD-PARTY CONDUCT OR CONTENT ON THE SOFTWARE; OR (C) UNAUTHORISED ACCESS TO OR ALTERATION OF YOUR CONTENT — WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE) OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, AND WHETHER OR NOT WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties or the limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions the above applies only to the extent permitted, and your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.

8. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be revised. Material revisions will be reflected in the date stamp at the top of this page, and where a previous version stated something inaccurate, the correction will be marked plainly rather than quietly edited — as it is above. Continuing to use the Software after a revision means you accept it.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions, and the courts of Kerala, India shall have jurisdiction — save that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you retain the benefit of any mandatory protections and forum rights of your country of residence.
